In her early years Nancy O. Hendrix (1830-1880) was a school mate of Mary Sutton (TSS 017). After Nancy's first husband, Jonathan Lamb, died young, she married Joseph M. Taylor.

Nancy, and perhaps Mary Sutton (TSS 017), may have attended the Midsylvania Female Academy, 5 miles south of Murfreesboro. Her sampler depicts the same building as Emmeline E. Smith’s 1846 sampler (TSS 054), which was made there.
