Nancy (Nannie) Reece (1815-1875) was the daughter of Charles Gullet Reece II and Lucinda Levy.
Nancy's delicate sampler features a free embroidery border and cartouche. It is the earliest dated Native American sampler documented. Nancy wrote many letters over her lifetime, which attest to her excellent education.

Her text is from Proverbs 31:30.

Favour is deceitful and beauty is
vain but a woman that feareth the
Lord she shall be Praised
