Description:
This sampler was probably stitched by Jane Cleopatra King Sowell (1828—1919), mother of Mary King Sowell, or by another close female relative of the little girl. The maker attached four blonde curls to a black ribbon and stitched the ribbon to the bottom of the sampler. The original frame, constructed of remnants of veneer, is attributed to a family member who was a furniture maker.
