Biography:
Mary Margaret Tannehill (1815-1869) was the second child of Wilkins F. Tannehill and Ellen Dewees. Her father was president of the Nashville Bank and served as mayor of Nashville from 1825-26. Mary may have attended the Nashville Female Academy as her father was one of the founders. She married William Tyler Berry, who owned a successful book store in Nashville, and gave birth to eleven children.

Mary kept a scrapbook of poems, recipes, and embroidery patterns indicating that she continued to stitch into adulthood.
