Drue Henderson Smith worked this sampler as an adult to commemorate her marriage to Roy Smith. They married in Hamilton Co. on Sep. 16, 1934. The couple moved to Nashville, Davidson Co., c. 1959. Drue Henderson Smith was a pioneering journalist, covering Tennessee legislative affairs for print and radio.

This sampler was worked from a stamped kit from McCall’s. Printed onto the linen and hidden by the frame is the text:
