About Tennessee Sampler Survey:

The Tennessee Sampler Survey was founded as a not-for-profit organization in 2004. Our mission is to document and preserve Tennessee's textile heritage. Our research includes documenting Tennessee samplers made prior to 1900. As of December 2006, we have located 160 samplers, 120 of which can be proven as Tennessean.

Folklorist Jennifer C. Core holds masters degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Indiana University, Bloomington. She is the director and co-founder of the Tennessee Sampler Survey. Jennifer teaches at the University of Phoenix, Nashville Campus.

Janet S. Hasson has a BFA in Fashion Design from Washington University in St. Louis. She is the retired curator of Belle Meade Plantation, a historic house museum in Nashville, TN. She is the secretary/treasurer and genealogist of the Tennessee Sampler Survey and is the past president of the Southeastern Region of the Costume Society of America.
